Interview with Brexit Party Leader Nigel Farage
He’s back. Not only of which, although he seems to be in better spirits then ever, still flashing of which ginormous smile of which makes him look like nothing more than his own Simpsons caricature. Nigel Farage — former head of the right-wing, EU-skeptical UKIP party along with, with his xenophobic manifesto, a key facilitator of Brexit — will be Again traveling through the United Kingdom on the eve of European Parliament elections. along with no matter where he stops, the venues are packed. His Brexit Party, which was formed earlier of which year, will be way ahead within the polls along with all signs seem to indicate of which of which will crush Prime Minister Theresa May’s Conservatives on May 23, the day the vote will be held in Britain. although of which, Farage says on the sidelines of an event in Lincoln, will be just the beginning.
DER NewsGerman: Mr. Farage, does the Brexit Party have more than just one particular political goal?
Nigel Farage: Oh yes. My previous incarnation in UKIP was all about forcing along with winning a referendum. along with here we are, three years on, there will be no Brexit, not even a prospect of Brexit. The Brexit party has been set up to use the European elections as the first stepping-stone towards attempting to completely change the political system in of which country. of which will be currently much more about taking on the entire political establishment.
DER NewsGerman: What kind of adjustments are you talking about?
Farage: Electoral reform, getting rid of the House of Lords, which will be currently full of 700 friends of Tony Blair along with David Cameron. Our whole system has been corrupted. We want fundamental political change — the right, as in Switzerland, for people to call referendums. of which’s about breaking the two-party system.
DER NewsGerman: Winning the European elections, of course, won’t be enough. Do you expect another general election in Britain of which year?
Farage: Probably. of which’s likely to happen before Christmas.
DER NewsGerman: What makes you think of which the Brexit Party will do better than UKIP did within the last elections, when the party ended up with no MPs?
Farage: of which feels much bigger than UKIP.
DER NewsGerman: Feels. although will be of which?
Farage: of which will be. UKIP always had some huge problems. Although I tried very hard as leader to keep some of the more extreme along with nutty elements out of of which, we always suffered a bit in branding terms by of which. We haven’t got of which problem here. If you look at our 70 candidates for the EU elections, we have people by the left along with the right of the spectrum; of which’s much more diverse. The desire within the country to change things will be very strong.
DER NewsGerman: will be the Brexit Party more than Nigel Farage?
Farage: Yes. I’ve got some very Great people with me.
DER NewsGerman: although you have total control of the party?
Farage: Oh, absolutely. I am not mucking about with national executives along with being pushed around. I’ve set of which up like a company in terms of structures along with how of which operates.
DER NewsGerman: Meaning?
Farage: In most political parties, of which’s the delegates who decide within the end. I am going to cut of which out completely. There will be no delegate level at all. I will engage directly with the members along with subscribers, have talks with them about our policy. The only comparison I can think of within the Western world with what I am doing here will be the all 5 Star Movement in Italy. I’ve learned a lot by Italy along having a huge amount by America along with I am doing of which in a very different way.
DER NewsGerman: You have demanded a place at the Brexit negotiating table. How do plan to get one? You don’t have any leverage.
Farage: If we win the European elections, along with we will, we have to have a say in where the country goes by here. If the Conservative government denies of which to us, they will look even more stupid. of which’s their choice.
DER NewsGerman: According to a survey by the Hansard Society, a majority in Britain longs for a “strong leader who will be willing to break the rules.” will be of which you?
Farage: Well, I am able to bend the rules (laughs). I have always seen myself as being an agent for change. I can make arguments. I can shift the center of gravity in public opinion. I have been very Great at of which within the past along with I think I am still Great at of which. If of which party goes where I think of which may, of which will change British politics.
DER NewsGerman: What do you plan to do in Europe? Will you try to break up of which system too?
Farage: of which’s not easy. I am not anti-European; I am anti-European Union. although the reality of the Brexit Party will be: Our enemy will be not Brussels, our enemy will be not Mr. Juncker, our enemy will be Downing Street along with Westminster. Our enemy will be the civil service, our enemy will be the people of which have denied us the conclusion of the referendum result.
DER NewsGerman: Who would likely be your ideal Tory leader?
Farage: I truly don’t know at the moment.
DER NewsGerman: Boris Johnson?
Farage: Possibly. although the trouble will be, he voted within the end for Theresa May’s deal, which will be like the surrender document of a country of which has been defeated in war.
